Yara Dallol BV is developing the potash mining project at Dallol woreda, Danakil Depression in Afar National Regional State (ANRS), Ethiopia. The Company has been granted Large scale Potash mining license from the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Mines Petroleum and Natural Gas. The project is in the development phase for construction of a large scale mining and processing facilities at Dallol project site. The Company is looking for senior logistics professional responsible in developing, reviewing and maintaining logistics policies, strategies, systems, methods and procedures and their implementation for logistics service operations for import and export of goods and products. The Senior Logistics Specialist as a manager will report to the General Manager.


• Develop, review and maintain logistics policies, strategies, systems, methods and procedures and their implementation for all required import and export logistics operations. • Ensure the handling, transportation and warehousing of supplied goods from the origin to the project construction and production site and achieve the demand efficiently and effectively. • Responsible in analyzing and recommending for deciding the optimal mode of transportation of goods from the origin of supplier to the point of delivery at the project site for both domestic and international freights by sea, road or air. • Responsible in acquiring, analyzing, evaluating and supplying data as well as reporting the information of goods that are accrued from point of origin to delivery including information about storage of goods. • Ensure the implementation of state-of-the-art logistics management software so as to manage effectively the inventory records and check against inventories in hand using such digital tools and Information Technology. • Ensure the company is in full compliance with laws and regulations, including its rights and obligations, and regarding local and international freights, customs requirements, clearances, goods transportation, including transportation of hazardous materials. • Ensure Logistics work complies with acceptable international standards including Health, Safety and Environment. • Prepare, Plan, budget, execute, manage and achieve the overall logistics targets and activities. • Responsible to analyze and recommend type of trucks and pay load capacity and develop, implement and coordinate efficient fleet tracking system for product’s export transport operations. • Establish system for efficient loading and unloading trucks from the production area and the port. • Manage smooth handling of bulk product from storage facility at delivery port onward to ship loader for loading of vessels, • Review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs and level of risk low with maintained quality throughout the logistic processes and operations. • Oversee the planned maintenance of product’s trucks and vehicles closely with Maintenance department. • Safeguard warehouse operations and assets by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. • Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met including focus on training and development of staff such as drivers and operators.

Job Requirments

• Master’s Degree preferably in Logistics Management; or Business Administration and similar with minimum 15 years in logistics profession out of which 5 year experience in senior logistics management position in a medium to large commercial organization with and hands-on involvement in import and export of goods; OR Bachelor’s Degree in given areas as mentioned above with minimum 17 year experience in logistics profession out of which minimum 7 years in senior logistics management position in medium to large commercial organization as mentioned. • Experience in bulk materials handling and long distance transportation. • Excellent in planning , analytical skills and sustainable problem solving skill. • Excellent in oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic in particular; proactive in sharing information and issues with management in real time with a positive attitude. • Able to work on logistic software platforms • Proven ability to think critically and handle multiple tasks effectively • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team and its development • Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, analytical ability and professional demeanor • Knowledge of logistics systems and procedures to international standards and INCOTERMS • Worked or coordinated with reputed international logistics companies • Knowledge of import and export rules and regulations and shipping documentation pertaining to Ethiopia and interface with suppliers of foreign countries of origin for end to end compliance • Understanding of limitations and regulations in transportation operations to find optimal solutions. • Strong health, safety and environment orientation
